| Minutes from July 16, 2003 meeting
The regular meeting of the Langola Township Board of Supervisors was called to order at 7:02 pm. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Correspondence was reviewed.
At. 7:05 pm gravel bids were opened. Bids were received from DLL Excavating and Bauerly Brothers. Greg made a motion to accept the bid of $30,385.00 from DLL Excavating. Steve seconded the motion and it was carried.
Minutes of the June meeting were read. Greg made a motion to accept the minutes with one correction on the gravel on 115th. The motion was seconded by Steve and carried.
Asphalt bids were opened. Bids were received from Tri City Paving and Bauerly Brothers. Steve made a motion to accept the bid from Bauerly Brothers for $51,722.00 for tarring 5th Avenue. Greg seconded the motion and it was carried.
The treasurers report was reviewed. Steve made a motion to accept the treasurers report as given. The motion was seconded by Greg and carried.
There was discussion of the mowing. Mike Nemeth has picked up the tractor and is going to get started.
Discussed 175th by Royalton and the fact that it needs some brushing done.
There was discussion on the signs that need to be put up and what has already been done.
Greg received a call from someone who asked about the township taking over a road. Greg has invited the person to come and meet with the board.
Frank mentioned that his Adopt a Road sign had been defaced. He was able to get it cleaned up.
Claims were reviewed. Steve made a motion to accept the claims. The motion was seconded by Greg and carried.
Steve made a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Greg and carried.

Minutes from June 18, 2003 meeting
The regular meeting of the Langola Township Board of Supervisors was called to order at 7:02 p.m. Don Nevala opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Correspondence was reviewed. The township short courses are coming up in July. Greg made a motion that anyone on the township board who wishes may attend the courses and the township will pay for them. Steve seconded the motion and it was carried.
Peggy read the minutes of the previous months meeting. Greg made a motion to accept the minutes as read. The motion was seconded by Steve and carried.
The treasurers report was reviewed. The funds from the levy should be coming in July. Steve made a motion to accept the treasurers report. Greg seconded the motion and it was carried.
Claims were reviewed. Steve made a motion to transfer the necessary funds and to pay the claims. The motion was seconded by Greg and carried.
Frank gave a report on the weed inspection. There ia a piece of property with marijuana growing on it. Steve will contact the land owner. There is also a piece of property with thistle growing. The landowner of that property was contacted concerning this and is cutting it. The board felt that we would not need to spray for weeds this year.
Mike Nemeth was contacted and will do the mowing for us. We will have him talk to Greg to set this up.
There was discussion of the amnesty day and what should be done about the cost of tires that are turned in. Greg discussed some of the issues with Benton County. Greg will pursue a SCORE grant for the township for clean-up next year.
Steve talked with Royalton about the school bus stop sign that is needed in that area.
Don mentioned the graveling that needs to be done. The areas are:
135th from CR 12 going east
North Freedom Road
8th Avenue to Gronau Road
115th to Gronau Road
This is approximately 5900 yards of gravel. Don estimates the cost will be approximately $30,000. We will advertise for bids. Don has information for the asphalt bids and we will go ahead and advertise for that also.
Greg mentioned the web page. We hope to get it up and running in July.
Jim Hovda mentioned that trees have been planted and the ditch mowed on North Freedom Road. Jim will take care of the weeds in the ditches on that road.
Don made a motion to adjourn. Greg seconded the motion and it was carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:48 p.m.

Minutes from the May 21, 2003 meeting
The regular meeting of the Langola Township Board of Supervisors was called to order at 7:01 pm with all members in attendance. Chairman Don Nevala led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Correspondence was reviewed.
The minutes of the previous months meeting were read. The following corrections were made to the minutes: The date of the weed inspection is June 13 not June 9. Road signs were corrected to read minimum maintenance instead of rustic road signs. A motion was made by Greg to accept the minutes with the corrections. The motion was seconded by Steve and carried.
The treasurers report was reviewed. There was discussion of the Adopt-A-Road program and the payments coming from individuals. There was also discussion of Harvey Meinert purchasing a post pounder for putting up the signs. The board said he should go ahead and purchase one. Steve made a motion to accept the treasurers report. The motion was seconded by Greg and carried.
Claims were reviewed. Steve made a motion to transfer the funds and to pay the claims. The motion was seconded by Greg and carried.
Benton County Amnesty Days were mentioned. There was discussion of the Rice Clean-Up day and the fact that we werent notified in time to let people know about it.
Greg mentioned that the tractor seemed to start alright. We need to get someone for mowing this year. We will check with Mike Nemeth to see if he is interested in doing it again. Greg will have someone look over the tractor to make sure it is running good.
Don talked to Benton County about the signs that need to be made. They will make the signs for us. It could cost up to $1,000.00. The county did not feel that the Child At Play signs are effective. Greg made a motion to put a Child At Play sign on Barley Road to ease the residents minds. Steve seconded the motion and it was carried.
Steve received calls concerning Canary Road after it rained. Don will work up a list of areas for graveling of roads and the distance that needs graveling. He will also contact Don Dubbin about cleaning the culvert that is blocked.
Don talked to the Recorders Office concerning Thomas Petersons property. The original road bed was never abandoned.
There was discussion of cutting brush and using the chipper. Jerry Perke and Jim Hovda are interested in doing brushing and chipping for the township. This will be looked into at a later date.
Jerry Perke thanked the board for taking over North Freedom Road.
Steve made a motion to adjourn. Greg seconded the motion and it was carried.

Minutes from January 15, 2003 meeting
The regular meeting of the Langola Township Board was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by Chairman Don Nevala. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Correspondence was reviewed.
Minutes of the previous months meeting were read. There was discussion of the cleaning of the ditches on 16th Avenue. There was also discussion on the North Freedom Road project. Signs cannot be installed on the road until spring. A post office box has been obtained for the township. The new township address is: P. O. Box 243, Rice, MN 56367. A motion was made by Greg Bruestle to accept the minutes as read. The motion was seconded by Steve Holbrook and carried.
The treasurers report was reviewed. A motion was made by Steve Holbrook to accept the treasurers report as given. The motion was seconded by Greg Bruestle and carried.
Claims were reviewed. Steve Holbrook made a motion to accept the claims and to transfer the funds necessary to pay the claims. The motion was seconded by Greg Bruestle and carried.
Old Business:
There was discussion of the newsletter. The newsletter will be sent by direct mail in the month of January.
New Business:
The Annual Meeting is coming up in March. We will try to finalize the agenda for this meeting at our February regular meeting.
The chipper that was obtained with SCORE funds for Rice and Langola will be stored at the Rice Compost Site.

A motion was made by Steve Holbrook to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Greg Bruestle and carried. Meeting was adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
